The Mad Dash to Clean

Oct 27, 2025
Man and Women Cleaning
This one’s for everyone who’s ever wondered:
Why do we make a mad dash to clean the house before the cleaning company shows up?

Isn’t that… their job?

Every time, it’s the same chaos picking up, wiping down, vacuuming, dusting all before the cleaners arrive. I get tidying up the kids’ rooms or clearing the floor, but washing the floors for the people who are literally coming to wash the floors? That part still blows my mind.

Maybe it’s pride.
Maybe it’s guilt.
Maybe it’s not wanting the cleaners to think we actually need them.

I’m starting to think it’s less about the house and more about the image we want to project.
We want the cleaners to see we’re “clean” people who just… happen to hire cleaners.

Honestly? I’d rather just leave an extra twenty bucks on the counter with a note:
“Sorry busy week. Thanks for saving us again.”

Just something to laugh about next time your partner starts that pre-cleaning panic before the cleaners come.
